Our History

During the last 20 years, Andy Payne of Payne Mitchell Law Group has handled lawsuits involving plane crashes. These either ended in injury or wrongful death.

Besides heading Payne Mitchell Law Group as its founding partner, Andy Payne has also been a licensed pilot since the late 1980s.

Payne is double board-certified in Personal Injury Trial Law and Civil Trial Law from the legal institutions:

• The Texas Board of Legal Specification
• The National Board of Trial Advocacy

Payne is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates. This institution limits its ranks to the most qualified plane crash attorney experts.

Our Lawyers

Andy Payne

Andy Payne is licensed to practice in Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Texas. However, that doesn’t mean that he isn’t certified to handle complicated litigation all across the country. Not only has Payne argued various cases in state court, but he has also successfully tried cases in federal courts.

To prove his deep dedication to the community, Payne spends time offering pro bono representation to those who desire it the most. Every year, Payne carefully selects a handful of clients to represent free of charge as a way to show his unending gratitude to society.

Additionally, his law firm has been a supportive donor of Equal Access to Justice Campaigns for more than 10 years. Andy and his helicopter crash attorney team have donated over a hundred thousand dollars. They provide free legal assistance and resources to the judicial system to help those in need.

Formerly, Payne was a partner at Howie & Sweeney, L.L.P.  Prior to this, Payne received a Juris Doctorate’s degree from Baylor Law School. While there, he spent time as Baylor Law Review’s executive editor.

Now, Payne is a notable member of the State Bar Pattern Jury Charge Committee. He helps to pursue product liability cases throughout multiple trial courts in Texas. He chairs personal injury seminars for the Texas Trial Lawyers Association and the Texas State Bar as well.

Payne is a product liability adjunct professor at the Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law. He lectures at both national and local professional meetings. He is also a board member of the Texas Center for Legal Ethics & Professionalism and the Texas Center for Legal Ethics & Professionalism.
